Nuance Pet Photos Blog | Charleston SC Pet Photography bio picture

Hi, and welcome to my blog!

That's me (Els) on the right there. Granted, it's an image I took of my reflection in a window when I was 18. Let's just say that was quite some time ago, without getting into specifics ;)

I've been in love with photography over 25 years, but my day job has been as a freelance graphic designer, with my main focus being catalog, magazine, and book design and layout. I started Nuance Pet Photos as an endeavor to combine my background in graphic design with my love of animals and my passion for photography. So, here we are!

Oh, and the yellow lab you see everywhere on this blog? That's Cooper, my yellow lab, who was born in Southern California in October 2004. He's a true beach boy, who loves to play in the ocean, catch frisbees on the run, and chase squirrels out of his backyard. We moved from San Diego, CA, to Charleston, SC, in June of 2007, and despite the humidity and mosquitos, we love it here!

Thanks for visiting the blog. Cheers!

Blast from the Past! Friday 01.08.10

I have, however, committed to a personal project 365, in which I will (try my...

Client Sneak Peek: Jackson, the miniature beagle!

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing my first miniature beagle, Jackson. Jackson’s mom, Casey, entered Jackson’s photo in a contest supporting Toys for Tots, and they won my donated photo mini-session! I’m still not sure Jackson enjoyed the whole “getting photographed” bit, but he sure was loving all the bribes of Pupperoni...

Jumpin’ Dawgs at the AKC Agility Trials at Mullet Hall

The AKC Agility Trials this weekend at Mullet Hall Equestrian Center were the second agility trials I’ve ever attended, and the first with a camera in tow. I saw lots of happy dogs and met a lot of really nice people (it’s never hard to find nice people at dog events, right?) and I had...

Splish splash at Whirling Waters waterpark

Once a year, at the end of the summer season, Whirling Waters waterpark in North Charleston stops chlorinating its pools and opens its gates to dogs. Despite Mascha and I both being sore and tired from our massive lawn-mowing, tree-downing, shrub-trimming, weed-clearing fall yard-clean-up on Saturday, we took Cooper for a half hour of fun...

Shadow

Five years ago this weekend I lost my best friend.
Shadow was my first dog, and, he was my heart dog. We went everywhere together, and, over our almost 12 years together he taught me more about loyalty and love and acceptance and humor and life than I ever thought possible. Mostly, he showed me I...
